Dear Mr Lee

PROPOSAL TO PULAU UBIN

As the President of the Green Plan 2012 Club in my school. I have some advise for you to develop Pulau Ubin. I would like to tell you the proposal from some residents.

Firstly, Mr Mohamad Ismail Bin Adam (aged 74, Headman of the island), said that a new clinic and a school for the locals is needed there since his grandchildren have to take a bumboat to the mainland to the clinic and school there. It is very inconvenient.

Secondly, Madam Chan Ah Mui (aged 45, former owner of a kiosk for bicycle rental), proposed that there should have a good bus service, roads and infrastructure. As the same time, make the places around there accessible. She has a desire for cycling tracks and nature trails.

Thirdly, Mr Chandran Mohan (aged 20, polytechnic student), was considering to transform Ubin into a 21st century New Town and enjoying the best of both worlds. Besides, he suggested to have some shopping facilities and nature at their doorstep. It is a relaxed way of life.

Fourthly, Mrs Tan Li Lin (aged 32, housewife and part time hawker assistant), requested reliable water supply as she has hoped to start a coffee stall. Due to a lot of campers and trippers, good water supply is very important.

Last but not least, Melvin Koh (aged 16, ‘O’ level student), analysed that it may need to destroy the natural beauty of the island. However, do preserve Chek Jawa, the pride of Pulau Ubin, as a nature reserve.

After reading the advise above, Are there any ideas come out of your mind that how to develop Pulau Ubin as a satisfactory and impressive place for everyone? If have, please implement without hesitation.

Your faithfully
Nicole Tang
The president of the Green Plan 2012 Club
